Torrey Pines High's Jessica Schmitt, a two-time section Swimmer of the Year, will continue her career at USC, her father, Rick Schmitt, said yesterday.
Jessica Schmitt, who holds several San Diego Section records, chose to forgo her junior high school season last spring while preparing for the U.S. Olympic Trials in Omaha, Neb., where she qualified to compete in the 100-and 200-meter breaststroke and the 200 individual medley.
Schmitt is planning to swim for the Falcons as a senior in 2009, her father said.
Schmitt holds the section record in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:00.94. She set the mark in 2007, breaking the record she set as a freshman in 2006.
