Are reprints of articles from The San Diego Union-Tribune available?
Unfortunately, The San Diego Union-Tribune does not provide reprints of articles.

Does The San Diego Union-Tribune allow reprints or use of published photos?

Public or Commercial Use

The San Diego Union -Tribune respectfully declines requests for reprints or use of published photos from organizations (profit or not-for-profit), government agencies, newsletters, scholastic newspapers, educational journals, all Web sites, public corporations and private companies.

If foreign newspapers or domestic or foreign news magazines, television news stations or book publishers request to republish an U-T image(s), permission will be considered on a case by case basis. A fee may also be involved for the use of the image(s).

Personal Use

You may request a reprint of a photograph appearing in The San Diego Union-Tribune taken by Union-Tribune staff photographers. These photos may be purchased through the Union-Tribune Library. Requests are subject to established policies.

The prices below apply to souvenir photographs for PERSONAL use only. Reproduction of Union-Tribune photographs is prohibited (by electronic means, by publication, or by copy) unless specifically authorized in writing, and each print is so stamped. Although photographs may appear in black and white, all Union-Tribune photographs are shot in color.

Does The San Diego Union-Tribune allow article reproduction?
The San Diego Union-Tribune permits reproductions in full of copyrighted articles written by its staff writers for non-commercial use only (i.e. classroom use, non-profits, public service, etc.). Other uses will be considered on a case-by-case basis and may involve a charge if permission is granted.

Articles must be reprinted in full exactly as they appeared in the newspaper. Credit must be given to The San Diego Union-Tribune.

Permission is for one-time use only. The Union-Tribune does not give blanket permission for reproduction of articles. Please allow at least two weeks for processing.

Permission for use of non-staff written material (free-lance or news services) must be obtained directly from writers or syndicates involved.

Is it possible to have a link from my web site to articles published on SignOnSanDiego.com?
Yes, SignOnSanDiego.com encourages you to link to articles published on the site. Please note that most articles remain online for 30 days after posting. You may request for a permanent link to be created by completing the article link request form. This service is free of charge to Schools and Non-Profit Organizations. There is a $25 service fee per link for all other organizations. Such links are valid for two years.

Please note that all requests to link to an article are permission based and SignOnSanDiego.com reserves the right to decline any request at its discretion.

Does SignOnSanDiego.com allow articles to be republished in any portion?
No, SignOnSanDiego.com does not permit articles to be republished in portion. However, SignOnSanDiego.com encourages your Web site to link to an article on published on the site. You may request a permanent link by following the appropriate guidelines outlined in question 4. above.

Does SignOnSanDiego.com permit the use of quotes from an article on SignOnSanDiego.com?
If the copyright principle of "fair use" is applied, SignOnSanDiego.com will permit the use of quotes from an article. Under the terms of fair use, the public is entitled to use portions of SignOnSanDiego.com articles for commentary and criticism. Appropriate source credit must be given at all times.
