REDDING – A Shasta County deputy public defender has been hit with a new misdemeanor charge.
Michael Borges was already accused of public intoxication and resisting or obstructing a police officer following a disturbance at a Redding nightclub in April.
On Friday, the Shasta County district attorney's office filed a new complaint accusing Borges of attempting to intimidate or dissuade a witness last month at the Win-River Casino.
District Attorney Jerry Benito says Borges got into a heated argument at the casino with the owner of the nightclub where the April disturbance took place.
Benito said Borges apparently blamed nightclub owner Inderjit Grewal for calling police officers who responded to the April disturbance.
