COPPEROPOLIS – A Copperopolis man is facing an attempted murder charge after he allegedly attacked his 22-year-old neighbor with a sword.

Calaveras County sheriff's deputies say 33-year-old Mitchell Moss went to his neighbor's house Wednesday night and cut him twice on the arm with a sword because he believed the man had broken the windshield on his pickup truck.

Officers say Moss also threatened to attack a girl he encountered at the neighbor's house.

Moss was booked at the county jail on suspicion of attempted murder, willful cruelty to a child, burglary, assault with a deadly weapon, making terrorist threats, exhibiting a deadly weapon and making an obscene or threatening phone call.
