EAST COUNTY: The third annual drive along historic Highway 80 through East County will be held Oct. 18.

The drive will begin at 9 a.m. at the San Diego Automotive Museum in Balboa Park and will stop in communities along the route, including La Mesa, El Cajon, Alpine and the Viejas Indian reservation.

In conjunction, Viejas will be offering its barbecue challenge cookout and will award prizes at the conclusion of the drive at 3 p.m. Other events include the Alpine Festival of Beers and the Alpine Art Show.
